Just Juice By: Karen Hesse

Just Juice is a novel that shows hard times in a family. Juice and her father can't read and are ashamed at that, so they don't tell anyone. Soon you find out that it causes much trouble for them and their family. They begin to practice and try to learn how to read. When the problems arrive, the family works together to try to solve the problems. It's hard for children to understand and I think that this book really talks to children about not giving up. It is a great book about dedication and staying together and working together as a family. It shows hard times and what the children may feel and I think it does a great job at showing how a family must stick together and work it out. A great book for children to read.
